Real finally broke the deadlock in the 54th minute, as Joselu converted a penalty awarded for a foul on Brahim Diaz. A minute later, Diaz extended the lead, and a stoppage-time strike from Rodrygo sealed the deal. Arandina managed a consolation goal through an own goal by Nacho.

LaLiga’s Alaves delivered a surprise upset, defeating Real Betis 1-0 with Carlos Benavidez’s 57th-minute goal. The rainy Mendizorroza Stadium witnessed Betis, the 2022 cup champions, facing their first cup defeat in regular time since 2019.

Girona progressed with a 2-0 win over Elche, with Daley Blind and Yan Couto finding the net in the first and second halves, respectively.
